Individuals
- Shop locally to reduce pressures on our transport infrastructure and your costs.
- Identify how you could substitute some travel by going online—work from home or teleconference.
- Travel on public transport where possible to reduce congestion.
- Make the most of pedestrian bridges and bikeways.
- Report damage to infrastructure to local authorities.
Community
- Get involved in community consultation for plans and projects in your local area.
- Help maintain community infrastructure—keeping parks, hospitals and schools litter and graffiti free.
- Identify infrastructure needs in your community and connect with your local Member of Parliament or councillor to discuss solutions.
- Support local sporting clubs and community groups to improve their facilities through volunteering or local fundraising.
- Help promote ways to reduce water and energy consumption in your community to reduce peak demand.
Business and industry
- Use logistics efficiently—shipping goods in bulk reduces pressure on the transport network.
- Invest in and use technology to bridge geographic distance, make new connections and explore opportunities that drive efficiency.
- Consider how your business can use existing infrastructure to better connect locally and globally.
