The 2014–15 year in review
The Plan was released on 31 July 2014 at the Local Government Association of Queensland Regional and Economic Development Conference in Hervey Bay.
The Act was assented and the Plan ratified in late October 2014. The main purposes of the Act are to establish a long-term vision for the future growth and prosperity of Queensland, and reflect the aspirations of the community, business and industry for the future of Queensland.
The Queensland Plan Ambassadors Council was established and 15 community members were appointed to advocate for the Plan’s implementation within the community, business and industry. Council meetings were held in Brisbane on 28 August 2014 and in Townsville on 25 November 2014.
Implementation also included releasing government responses to the Plan and encouraging community awareness about the challenges and opportunities in preparing for the future.
Following the Queensland General Election in January 2015, the newly elected Queensland Government released its objectives for the community: creating jobs and a diverse economy, delivering quality frontline services, protecting the environment, and building safe, caring and connected communities. In 2015, the Queensland Government’s contribution to achieving the vision and goals of the Plan has been aligned with these objectives.
