Emeritus Professor Roger Scott

Emeritus Professor Roger Scott holds an honorary appointment as the Executive Director of the TJRyan Foundation, a progressive think tank focussed on Queensland issues.

He holds an Arts honours degree and a diploma of public administration from the University of Tasmania. As the 1961 Tasmanian Rhodes Scholar, he completed a doctorate in industrial relations and African studies at Oxford. He then taught at universities in Kampala, Sydney and Belfast and at the Canberra CAE before moving to Queensland in 1977 as the J.D.Story Professor of Public Administration at the University of Queensland.

He moved back to Canberra to become the inaugural Vice-Chancellor of the University of Canberra and returned to Queensland in 1990 to be Director-General of Education. Between 1995 and 2000 he was the Dean of Arts at QUT and he has since held fractional and then honorary appointments at the University of Queensland.
