YWCA Queensland

Kate Tully

Kate Tully is a seasoned executive leader with significant experience in strategic thinking, research & analysis, organisational development, business development, change management and governance.

She is Chief Executive Officer of YWCA Queensland, one of the state’s leading organisations for women and girls, and has spearheaded the transformation of this new-from-old organisation since 2011.

Today, YWCA Queensland engages women and girls in pursuing a just and equitable society, and seeks to promote three cornerstones of their empowerment: safety, economic participation and leadership. It is active across a number of community service areas including community housing, domestic violence, disability services, and training & employment.

Kate has a commitment to active citizenship and community service; she has served on governing and advisory bodies for more than 20 years. Kate is currently Chair of the Queensland Council of Social Service (QCOSS), and a Director of the Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS).

Since moving to Toowoomba from Sydney with her young family in 2001, Kate has become an ‘accidental advocate’ for regional Queensland and the tremendous opportunities presented by regional living. She is also acutely conscious of regional:urban disparity and inequity, and continually seeks to address this as part of her work.

Kate holds a Master of Business from QUT, a BA (Communication) from UTS and a Certificate in Governance Practice from GIA. Originally trained as a journalist and editor, Kate has had a lifelong interest in issues affecting women and children, and has been active in this area for more than 25 years.
